For a super candid and natural wedding photographer like me, Crowcombe Court is a stunning venue. Here’s why...
It's got history
First up, Crowcombe is a Grade 1 listed building. This puts the property straight into the premier league of wedding venues across the South West of England. The Court was built in 1739 for Thomas Carew by Nathaniel Ireson, a dude who also had a hand in Stourhead. You can read all about Crowcombe’s architectural features on the Historic England website. Suffice to say it looks the business and every bit a beautiful and classy place to hold your knees-up.
Best in the South West
The design of the Court is English Regional Baroque style and is described as "the finest house of its date in Somerset south of the Bath area". The Carew family lived in the house until the 1960s whereupon it was used for a number of purposes until being bought and renovated as an events venue.
Just as good inside
The interior of the Court is wonderful and full of period Italian plasterwork and historic furniture. There are a number of both large and small room option in which to hold your wedding breakfast and ceremony alike. And, uniquely, a vaulted cellar intended to be used for dancing the night away and behaving quite badly. Upstairs in the house are 10 ensuite bedrooms giving those closest to you a great option for living it up and swanning about in absolute splendour for a few days.
Space to breathe
As one might expect, the surrounding grounds offer plenty of lawn space for drinks reception and games along with lots of quiet walks through the gardens and trees - perfect for romantic photography or just getting away from the hubbub of your celebration for five minutes. Not only that but the wild and rugged Quantock hills are right on your doorstep.
A team with proven experience
The court boasts a full events team to ensure your day goes smoothly and its own in-house kitchen team ready to make your food as memorable as your celebration.
